At the end of the 2022-2023 academic year, the HDS B.R.I.D.G.E.S. class concluded with an informative session featuring Marina Miranda as the last guest speaker for its Career Series. Marina, who graduated from UCF, shared her journey and expertise with the class. Her educational background includes degrees in Biology-Zoology, a Business Minor, and a Theme Park & Attraction Management Certification. Following these impressive achievements, she pursued further studies and obtained a Master’s in Hospitality & Tourism Management.
Marina embarked on her professional journey in the hospitality and tourism industry when she gained valuable experience as an Attractions Attendant at Universal Orlando Theme Park, specifically working on the renowned “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride. She then participated in the Disney Hospitality Leadership Program as an intern. Following her internship, Marina accepted a job with the Disney family. She brought a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experiences to share with the students, particularly from her background in working at the Orlando parks. During her session, Marina inspired the students and offered recommendations in the hospitality industry, including tips on computer animation, which plays a crucial role in operating theme park attractions.
Working at the famous “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride allowed Marina to witness the magic of bringing stories to life and providing memorable experiences for park guests. Through her role, Marina discovered her love for creating immersive environments that transport people into the world of their favorite characters. This passion drove her to explore new opportunities within the industry.
Marina excitedly announced her upcoming venture into the Disney family. With Disney renowned for its exceptional guest experiences and attention to detail, Marina felt it was a natural progression for her career. She emphasized the importance of finding an organization that aligns with one’s values and passion, which can significantly enhance professional growth and job satisfaction. Marina’s transition to Disney symbolized her commitment to further excel in creating magical moments for park guests.
