Picasso Einstein and HDS partner to bring Entrepreneurial Summer Camp
The HDS Foundation and Picasso Einstein have partnered to bring a Summer Camp dedicated to bringing Entrepreneurial Skills and Experiences to young men and women with Developmental Disabilities. The Camp will take place at the offices of HDS, providing a business setting for the weekly activities.
Picasso Einstein is a company founded by Minerva Vazquez and Nelson Santiago, who with other specialized professionals bring years of experience in utilizing creativity as “an elimination of the unnecessary”, and the “refinement of everyday thinking.”
Picasso Einstein www.PicassoEinstein.com is a Florida State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Certified Business & Technical Assistance Consultant (CBTAC). The HDS Foundation’s mission is “to provide services and resources for the enrichment of families, communities and individuals who seek safe, affordable housing, assistance in accessing available resources and the services they need to improve their daily lives”. End of Summer Lunch for STEPS Interns
As the summer comes to an end, the Dan Marino Foundation STEPS Interns were able to celebrate their time with a fun lunch and a movie day. Each of them contributed to the fun by bringing in a home-made item for our pot-luck lunch. The DMF STEPS Interns spent part of the summer learning certain software testing strategies, data input and audit skills. Their collaboration skills in the workplace greatly improved during their time at HDS. Each of these young ladies and gentleman worked very hard, and showed that they can take something very new to them on. As some of them continue with their studies, and job searches, we feel confident that they take these new skills with them. Thank you Jamie, Renee, Eddie and Emily.
Dan Marino Foundation Recognition Dinner
Meagan Bouscher-Miranda, HDS Foundation Program Manager, attended the DMF Recognition Dinner, held at the Hampton Inn, Fort Lauderdale. All the job coaches, interns, and job sites were praised for their efforts in helping the interns achieve their summer program goals. The event honored all of the hard work and dedication in allowing children and young adults with Autism to be more self sufficient, and to develop skills to help them in the work force and for the future. The students had an opportunity to speak about their personal experiences and give acknowledgement and praise for the help they have gotten along the way. The event sponsored by the Dan Marino Foundation was a huge success.
1st Day of Summer Internship Program
A great deal of excitement and anticipation in the air at the HDS Foundation as our first Summer Internship Program kicks off. We welcomed four student interns from the Dan Marino Foundation Summer STEPS Program, together with their Job Coach and Supervisor. Our goal this summer is to acquaint these young men and women to technology, and more specifically software testing. Although we will be focusing on certain basic elements, the importance of collaborating in the workplace, learning new terms and processes was our focus. We are looking forward to exposing them to the world of software and hopefully help build additional skills that will assist them in job searches and other means for their future success. 2013 Cheer Buddies Banquet
The Cypress Bay Cheer Squad and the Cheer Buddies held their yearly baquet at Weston Hills Country Club. They celebrated their accomplishments and said goodbye to the Senior class, awards were given out and comical “Superlatives.” All the students had a wonderful time and dressed to impress. We cannot wait to see the squad for the up and coming year. Thanks for the great memories team!
